Herceptin, a breast cancer drug, has recently been approved in Europe, for postmenopausal patients with HER2 and hormone receptor positive metastatic disease, in combination with hormonal therapy.
The Roche Holding AG drug is already used for early and metastatic HER2 positive breast cancer.
An international late stage clinical trial showed that the combination of the drug with hormonal therapy doubles the median progression-free survival time.
